KINKATOPIA IS A 501C3 NONPROFIT: I CANT DO WHAT I DO WITHOUT YOU! 〰️
Welcome to Kinkatopia From The Mother of Kinkajous
I am the Mother of Kinkajous, Breaker of Bananas, the first of my name — Alexandra Ashe of House Honeybear. I am the CEO and founder of Kinkatopia, the first and only kinkajou organization in the world.
In 2015, I launched a captive wildlife and exotic animal organization. It grew very large, very rapidly. We did everything from fur farm rescue of foxes to special needs conservation and education to permanent placement. During this time, I acquired my first kinkajou, Arkham, and fell in love with the species.
While caring for so many lives, I never took care of myself, and this led to a bottoming of my health. In March of 2017, I was blessed with the opportunity to earn my life back — and I did.
I took a year away from the animal community and grew as a person. I learned that if I didn’t put myself first, I would be of no service to others. This was one of the more challenging, yet rewarding times in my life. I wouldn’t change it for a thing — I am who I am today because of my past.
That year was not only a journey to a stronger well-being, but the discovery of a need in the world. I was running into behavior obstacles with my male kinkajou and had no research to fall back on. Information was limited, I saw little stability for these animals, the community was small ... and there were (are) so many suffering in various ways. Kinkajous needed a voice. In March 2018, I launched Kinkatopia.
Kinkatopia is now permanent sanctuary to 21 kinkajous (and sometimes more!) and various other family members! I dedicate myself to giving these animals the best quality of life and i have the ability to do that becuase of you!
Since its inception, I’ve assisted in the permanent placement of over 120 kinkajous with various stories and behaviors needing homes. The more people hear about Kinkatopia, the more cases are brought to my attention. It is a growing and constant battle to ensure these animals a permanent home and experienced quality of life that they deserve.
over the past 5 years since inception, we have grown exponentially. those kinkajous i have kept or rehomed outside of this sanctuary proove this need. kinkatopia is ready to expand! but we cannot do it alone.
the world needs a nocturnal sanctuary for these animals to live out forever. we need to learn about these issues … to appreciate kinkajous and other nocturnal species. kinkajous need a larger safe haven, and i pledge to bring it to you all — cross your fingers and tails!
I educate that these animals are not traditional pets — most are victims of the pet trade and endless cycles of rehoming and terrible conditions. In fact, I have found that only 15% remain in the homes they start out in. However, I am in constant communication internationally with zoos, sanctuaries, aquariums, and private owners to ensure that captive kinkajous are receiving the best care possible. I am happy to report numbers appear to be improving in various areas due to kinkatopia’s involvment.
I don’t do this alone. Kinkatopia is a “WE” organization.
I am mentored by some incredibly wise professionals and communicate regularly with vets and university professors. most importantly, Kinkatopia is a community. I cannot do what I do without the supporters, our Kinkatopia family. everything you see exists because you’ve helped to make it possible.
All these animals are given the chance to live two lives in one when they are influenced by Kinkatopia —
whether in our care or from afar.
For example, our ambassador kinkajou Trashcan was found in a dumpster … now she is living her best life impacting the lives of everyone she meets including our growing TikTok platform. I have helped kinkajous into witness protection and saved them from death row.
The concept of a second life is so special to me as I have evolved into living the best version of myself with the same opportunity. I can relate to the kinkajous and the blessing of another chance.
I literally live and breathe kinkajous — in addition to working a full-time career, taking care of my health, enriching myself with other interests, and giving back to the world in other ways. I am a woman on a mission. Today, I am proud to call myself a sober woman in recovery and the CEO of an incredibly unique organization...
peace. love. kinkajous,
the Mother of Kinkajous. XO

Welcome To Kinkatopia
Welcome! Kinkatopia is a kinkajou-SPECIFIC ORGANIZATION—
we are the only one in the world!
KINKAJOUS IN CAPTIVITY NEED OUR HELP!
KINKATOPIA PRIDES ITSELF ON HUSBANDRY, SOCIALIZATION, TRAINING, DIET, ENRICHMENT, AND OVERALL CARE. WE ARE DEDICATED TO RESEARCH AND EDUCATE ABOUT THE SPECIES. WE HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH ALL BEHAVIORS AND PERSONALITIES; AS WELL AS SPECIAL NEEDS. WE ARE AVAILABLE FOR COMMUNICATION REGARDING KINKAJOU QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS.
OUR INNOVATIVE PROGRAM IS WORKING TO DOCUMENT AND PUBLISH INFORMATION ABOUT THESE INCREDIBLE CREATURES. THEY ARE OVER-REPRESENTED IN THE PET TRADE AND UNDERREPRESENTED WHEN IT COMES TO KNOWLEDGE, SO THEY ARE OFTEN IMPROPERLY KEPT. THESE ANIMALS ARE NOT TRADITIONAL PETS AND UNFORTUNATELY FALL VICTIM TO CYCLES OF ABANDONMENT, MISKEEPING, AND PREMATURE DEATH.
KINKATOPIA’S HOPE IS TO LESSEN IMPROPER KEEPING OF THESE ANIMALS, IMPULSIVE PURCHASING, AND COMBAT THE IRRESPONSIBLE RELINQUISHING OF KINKAJOUS. KINKATOPIA IS THE FIRST OF ITS KIND, AND THE ONLY ORGANIZATION FIGHTING FOR THIS CAUSE, IN THE WORLD. THERE IS A DIRE NEED FOR AID, ESPECIALLY IN FLORIDA AND TEXAS. TOGETHER WE CAN IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF THOUSANDS OF LIVES, BOTH IN HOUSE AND WORLDWIDE.
